Q.  What is the required age for students entering Kindergarten at St. Mary’s?
A.  A child must be five years of age by December 1 of the current year.  A Birth Certificate and a Baptismal Certificate must be presented for all Catholic children.  Non-Catholics must present a Birth Certificate.  The child's record of immunization must meet New York State requirements.  A readiness screening will be administered to each Kindergarten applicant prior to acceptance.

Q.  Is bus service provided to St. Mary’s School?
A.  Busing is provided within a 15-mile limit to students from their residence.  The public school district where the student resides provides this service.

Q.  What are the school hours?
A.  St. Mary’s begins each day at 8:00 A.M. and ends at 2:50 P.M.  The After School Program begins at 2:50 P.M. and lasts until 5:45 P.M.

A.  The After School Program begins at 2:50 P.M. and lasts until 5:45 P.M.

Q.  Does St. Mary’s serve hot lunch?
A.  A hot lunch is served Mondays through Thursdays.  Pizza is available on Fridays as a separate eighth grade fundraiser.  Parents wishing to take advantage of our hot lunch program may purchase a ticket for five, ten, or twenty lunches.  Children may also bring their lunch to school and if they wish, may purchase milk or ice cream.

Q.  Does St. Mary’s administer standardized tests?
A.  St. Mary’s students take part in the Archdiocesan testing program which includes the Archdiocesan religion test, annual standardized tests, and New York State Education Department assessments.  These tests measure academic growth over a period of time.

Q.  Does St. Mary’s require entrance testing?
A.  A readiness screening will be administered to each Kindergarten applicant prior to acceptance.  The most recent report card and standardized test results must be presented for children entering grades two through eight.

Q.  What extracurricular activities are available?
A.  Students who are musically inclined may sign up for Band beginning in grade three.

St. Mary’s Drama Club is also available to students beginning in grade three.  Our Spring productions are well-received and highly anticipated by our local community.

The Spanish Club is open to students in all grades, beginning each October and extending through May.

For our artistic students, the Art Club provides an exciting opportunity to express their creativity.

St. Mary’s CYO offers an intramural basketball program for children in Kindergarten through grade six, and a travel program for children in grades five through eight.  CYO also offers a cheerleading program for children in Kindergarten through grade six.
